Luka Doncic confirms breakup with fiancée! More details revealed: December dispute led to police call by the woman

On March 11 Beijing time, Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic confirmed to ESPN that he has separated from his fiancée Anamaria Goltes and is currently involved in a custody dispute over their two daughters.

“I love my daughters more than anything. I have been doing everything possible to have them live with me in the U.S. this season, but that didn't happen, so I recently made the difficult decision to end our engagement,” Doncic said in a statement provided to ESPN. “Everything I do is for the well-being of my daughters. I will continue striving to be with them and provide them the best life I can.”

Earlier, TMZ reported that Goltes has filed a legal petition seeking child support and attorney fees from Doncic.

Sources told ESPN that the petition was filed in California — while one of Doncic's daughters only stayed in California for three months last spring, and the other daughter has never been to California.

Doncic was completely unaware of Goltes filing the petition.

Sources added that Doncic, who signed a three-year $165 million extension with the Lakers in August, has unconditionally covered all family and children's expenses.

The 27-year-old Doncic and fashion fitness model Goltes have known each since childhood, started dating in 2016, and got engaged in July 2023.

Their first daughter Gabriela was born in the U.S. in November 2023, when Doncic was still playing for the Dallas Mavericks.

Several months after he was traded to the Lakers, their second daughter Olivia was born in Slovenia in December 2025.

Earlier this season, Doncic temporarily left the Lakers to fly back to Slovenia for the birth of his second daughter, missing games against the Raptors on December 5 and the Celtics on December 6.

Sources told ESPN that on December 8, when Doncic was preparing to return to the U.S. to Philadelphia for a game against the 76ers, he wanted to bring his eldest daughter Gabriela back to America, leading to a dispute with Goltes, who was still his fiancée at the time, and the 27-year-old Goltes called the police.

Police went to the Kranj maternity hospital on December 7.

Police reports reviewed by ESPN showed no evidence of criminal activity or wrongdoing by Doncic.

Sources said Doncic left the hospital calmly and flew back to the U.S. later that day.

Since then, he has not seen his daughters or Goltes again.

When asked about his trip to Slovenia after the game against the 76ers, Doncic said: “I don't even know how to describe it. So much happened. I went there for my daughter's birth, which meant everything to me. But that experience was definitely like a roller coaster.”

Goltes deleted all photos with Doncic from her Instagram last week, fueling speculation about their relationship.

Sources revealed that Doncic filed a temporary injunction petition with a Slovenian court on February 26, requesting immediate access to Gabriela and Olivia.

Since flying back to Los Angeles for Lakers training camp on September 26, Doncic has only seen his daughters for two days.

In his first full season with the Lakers, the guard averaged a league-leading 32.5 points, plus 8.4 assists and 7.8 rebounds.

The Lakers (39-25) will host the Timberwolves (40-24) on Wednesday.
