Barcelona discard shines in Brazilian league, plans post-World Cup departure from Palmeiras with valuation exceeding 50 million euros.

Not all players are suited for Europe's elite clubs, particularly young prospects. The Brazilian pair Roque and Endrick serve as ideal cases. Having recovered his form back in Brazil, Roque at 21 is expected to make another attempt in Europe's top five leagues to demonstrate his ability.

According to Spanish media AS, after struggling at Barcelona, Palmeiras brought Roque back to Brazil in the 2025 winter window for 25.5 million euros—then the most expensive signing in South American history. He quickly regained form, becoming a dominant force in the Brazilian league and helping Palmeiras reclaim its South American supremacy, with 26 goals and 6 assists in 70 matches across all competitions.

Roque, now 21, stands 1.74 meters tall, is right-footed, primarily plays as a center-forward but can also operate as a winger. His contract with Palmeiras runs until 2029. Transfermarkt values him at 35 million euros, while Palmeiras sets his price above 50 million euros.

Reports indicate Roque plans to leave Palmeiras after the 2026 World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Many clubs are pursuing him; last November Ancelotti gave him his Brazil national team debut, and he was in preliminary squads for friendlies against France and Croatia. With Rodrigo injured for the World Cup, Roque sees an opportunity to represent Brazil in 2026, though he faces competition from Endrick, Rayan, and Neymar. A World Cup appearance would provide the best platform to aid his return to Europe and prove his capabilities.
