Eight CAHN players named, along with Xuân Son and Văn Vĩ, to face Malaysia

The leading V-League 2025/26 team CAHN achieves a milestone with eight players summoned to the Vietnam national team roster, ready for a friendly against Bangladesh and a match versus Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualification round.

The official list of 26 players for the Vietnam national team, filled in by coach Kim Sang Sik for this training camp, has not been announced by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), but the clubs managing these players have revealed it.

Specifically, according to information from CAHN Club, eight players from this team have been given the opportunity to contribute to the national colors in this training camp, including: Nguyễn Filip, Nguyễn Quang Hải, Nguyễn Thành Long, Cao Quang Vinh, Bùi Hoàng Việt Anh, Trần Đình Trọng, Lê Văn Đô, and Đoàn Văn Hậu.

Notably, Đoàn Văn Hậu returns after a long period of injury treatment.

The last time Văn Hậu wore the Vietnam national team jersey was in September 2023. Meanwhile, Lê Văn Đô also surprisingly received a call-up under coach Kim Sang Sik.

Similarly, for Thép Xanh Nam Định Club, left defender Văn Vĩ and naturalized striker Xuân Son have also been called up.

At Ninh Bình Club, Văn Lâm, Ngọc Bảo, Đức Chiến, Tiến Anh, and Hoàng Đức are those summoned.

Further names from Thể Công Viettel, Hải Phòng, Công an TPHCM… as well as the official Vietnam national team training camp list will be announced by VFF tomorrow, March 11.

The Vietnam national team currently ranks second in Group F with 12 points, trailing Malaysia by 3 points. In the first leg on June 10, 2025, Vietnam lost 0-4, so they need to win by a 5-goal margin to take the top spot. If the margin is 4 goals, the two teams will play a penalty shootout to determine ranking.

However, due to using naturalized players violating eligibility rules, the Malaysia national team faces the risk of being handed a 0-3 defeat in both matches against Nepal and Vietnam in the final 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

In that case, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team would certainly top Group F, regardless of the match result on March 31, to secure a ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup.

According to the plan, the Vietnam national team will assemble from March 23 in Hanoi, play a friendly against Bangladesh on March 26 at Hàng Đẫy Stadium before meeting Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers on March 31 at Thiên Trường Stadium, Ninh Bình province.
