Manchester United wasted £138 million on Sancho and has informed him he can leave for free this summer! He is willing to reduce his salary to return to Dortmund.

Jadon Sancho, loaned by Manchester United to Aston Villa, has almost been forgotten. In late January and early February, this 25-year-old English winger was close to becoming a key player for Emery's team, but his performance was mediocre, and he recently returned to the bench. Villa is unlikely to sign him permanently after this season, even though United has waived any transfer fee, allowing him to join for free.

Sancho's contract with Manchester United expires on June 30, and the club has a one-year priority renewal option but is unwilling to use it. At that point, he will leave as a free agent. Currently, foreign clubs can negotiate pre-contract agreements with him, and his former club Dortmund appears likely to sign him for the third time.

According to German newspaper Bild, Dortmund is exploring the possibility of re-signing Sancho. The "Yellow and Blacks" see Sancho as a potential replacement for Julian Brandt, who is expected to leave the Bundesliga club as a free agent when his contract expires this summer.

According to Bild, Dortmund is exploring the possibility of re-signing Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho, following his season-long loan spell at Aston Villa.

This English international is currently on a temporary contract with Villa, but the West Midlands club is unlikely to reach a long-term renewal agreement with the 25-year-old.

Sancho's contract expires on June 30, at which point he will leave Manchester United. Foreign clubs can negotiate pre-contract agreements with him, and Dortmund appears likely to re-sign him.

The German giants see Sancho as a potential replacement for Julian Brandt, who is expected to leave the club as a free agent when his contract expires this summer.

Sancho's ability to join Dortmund as a free agent is highly attractive to the Germans. They previously sold him to Manchester United for £73 million, making a substantial profit. Moreover, Sancho is now willing to significantly reduce his salary to return to Dortmund.

Dortmund holds a special affection for Sancho, whose career began with them. Dortmund nurtured him extensively, attracting United's high-price acquisition. Unfortunately, Sancho seems to perform well only at that club.

During his loan spell at Dortmund, Sancho contributed 6 goals in 21 matches, helping the team reach the Champions League final. Returning to Dortmund might revitalize his career.

Of course, while Sancho is willing to lower his wages, he will also demand a substantial signing fee from Dortmund. This is typical in free transfers, where players often receive a hefty signing bonus since they save the club transfer fees.

Interestingly, despite his inconsistent performances, Sancho could participate in European finals for three consecutive years! Villa is a favorite to win the Europa League this season, while last season Sancho won the Europa Conference League with Chelsea, and the year before he played in the Champions League final for Dortmund.

Manchester United may be the only loser here. The Daily Mail reveals that acquiring Sancho cost United £138 million in transfer fees and wages, and the only income he brought back was £5 million paid by Chelsea last summer to "return" him. Chelsea initially needed £25 million to buy Sancho, but due to disagreements over terms, they opted to pay compensation to send him back to United.

Sancho's arrival cost Manchester United £73 million in transfer fees. Owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe complained last year that although Sancho hadn't played for the club for a year and wouldn't serve the team in the following year, United still had to pay Dortmund the final £17 million installment of the transfer fee!

Additionally, Sancho's five-year contract had a weekly wage of £250,000. Although his salary was reduced during periods without Champions League qualification, United still wasted £138 million on him overall. This makes Sancho less cost-effective than the €100 million winger Antony, who at least contributed to the club.
