The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust (THST) has issued a statement demanding the club take "urgent action" after the 2-5 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League early on March 11.
The disastrous season of Tottenham added another forgettable night with the 2-5 loss to Atletico Madrid. Spurs conceded three goals within just 15 minutes due to errors from Antonin Kinsky and Micky van de Ven.
Robin Le Normand scored the fourth goal for Atletico, before Pedro Porro reduced the deficit for Tottenham. In the second half, Julian Alvarez and Dominic Solanke scored successively, concluding a catastrophic night for the London club.
It was a forgettable evening for the squad under manager Igor Tudor, as hopes for Champions League qualification nearly collapsed. Tottenham's official supporters' association - the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust (THST) - labeled the team's performance as "a disgrace" and demanded the club refund tickets for fans who traveled to Madrid.
The THST statement reads: “Tonight's performance and result are utterly disgraceful. It reflects the dire state currently engulfing Tottenham.”
“From the January transfer window to managerial appointment decisions, the lack of leadership and the complete absence of anyone with genuine Spurs identity guiding those decisions. Where is 'Daring to Do'? Where is 'Echoes of Glory'?”
THST further emphasized: “Urgent action is needed, as we are now sleepwalking towards the precipice. Being a Spurs fan has never been so difficult, but supporters will not sit idle and watch the club continue to decline. More will be said…
“At minimum, those present in Madrid should receive ticket refunds. But what we truly care about is the club making us feel proud. We are here to support the team, to be the twelfth player. Yet all of us deserve far more than this.”
Tottenham currently ranks 16th in the Premier League and will visit Liverpool on March 15. Spurs could even fall into the relegation zone before the match at Anfield begins.
Interim manager Igor Tudor is also under immense pressure after becoming the first Tottenham manager in history to lose all four initial matches in charge. It remains unclear whether he will still be in the coaching position this weekend.
